BIO

Christie Hackler grew up in the wide-open spaces of Oklahoma. Being the only girl amongst brothers, the cosmic forces from way beyond blessed her with four boys, which allowed her to stay true to her tomboy roots. In 1996, her life took an unexpected turn when her son Thomas died of meningitis.  After this catastrophic event, life took on new meaning. Looking for her higher purpose she chose to go back to school and finish her art degree. In 2010, she graduated from the University of Central Oklahoma with a BFA in studio art – metalsmithing emphasis.  She works at her studio, Metalhoma and shows her artwork in various galleries in the Oklahoma City metro area.  Focusing on figurative forms, sculptural vessels, sculptural lighting, and enameled wall hangings Christie’s work speaks of loss and pain, growth and maturity, and the beauty of rebirth.
